Microfabrica Inc. is working to develop technology for the production of micro-machines and other micro-scale device. Founded in August 1999 and based in Burbank, Cal., the company's flagship technology, EFAB, is designed to allow micro-devices to be produced from a single, automated system, and enable 3D CAD designs to be transformed into finished micro precision parts and MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems).
The EFAB™ 3D micro-manufacturing process is a new manufacturing technology that allows micro-machines to be manufactured automatically, delivering fully-functional devices just days after they are designed using 3-D CAD software. Using EFAB, Microfabrica Inc. fabricates devices for its strategic partners with a self-contained, high-throughput machine rather than a conventional clean-room facility filled with exotic equipment. EFAB can slash time-to-market, eliminate constraints and make micro-machine design accessible to engineers at the widest possible range of companies.
Microfabrica Inc. has raised $5.7MM and is backed by a group of investors including Partech International, Draper fisher Jurvetson, Atherton Venture Partners, Chevron Technology Ventures Dynafund and Zone Ventures.
